MOORESVILLE, NC -- Mooresville resident Karen L. Dortschy has published her first children’s book “The Little Lion Ran Away”. It is available on Amazon as a printed paperback and Kindle book.

“I am excited to have written a book that helps children ages 2-8 enjoy learning new words, rhyming and the alphabet as they follow the adorable little lion's efforts to prove he is a big lion. The book features full-color illustrations, including parent/teacher notes and questions/answers for additional learning opportunities related to the alphabet and rhyming,” says Dortschy.

A stage 4 pancreatic cancer survivor, Dortschy is well known for her painted portraits of animals and pets through her business Haute Dauge Portraits and has been involved with the Mooresville South Iredell Chamber of Commerce, Mooresville Arts and local animal-related non-profits for many years.

“I decided to write a children’s book as I’ve been focused on creative writing and journaling since my cancer diagnosis,” says Dortschy. “This book’s key message about ‘having your own voice’ really resonated with me as I navigate through cancer treatments.”

Dortschy is available for local book signings, book readings, interviews and appearances throughout the Charlotte, NC metro area.

The printed and Kindle books are available on Amazon or through this link: https://www.amazon.com/dp/1666402028?psc=1&smid=A1Y53T3O3Q25L8&ref_=chk_typ_imgToDp
